Eau Claire Kitchen and Bath Remodel by Adrienne Dorig Designs
Our clients desired a kitchen that was more open to their dining room. Key challenges were to make it harmonious with adjacent rooms, maintain available storage, and to integrate a structural beam separating the kitchen and dining room. Inspired by the clients’ favorite Japanese restaurant, we chose white panels surrounded by cherry wood for the cabinet doors. This brightens and defines the space and ties it with the solid cherry cabinetry in the nook and built-ins at the fireplace. The grey porcelain backsplash also complements the new stacked stone fireplace. By removing the soffit and extending the cabinetry to the ceiling, we regained much of the storage lost from removing the cabinetry separating the kitchen and dining spaces. The structural beam was clad in cherry to integrate it with other cherry elements. A glass hood, over the range, opens the view to the nook where we designed a built-in booth with drawers and tall cabinet for crafts. Glass finishes the cabinet tops along the sink wall and contributes to the open design. Other design features include the repetition of curves with the glass hood, Caesarstone backsplash, bar top, handles, and appliances. The curved Caesarstone backsplash was designed for safety behind the peninsula cooktop. Behind wall cabinets near the double oven is a charging station and extra outlet should the clients want a built-in microwave in the future.
